MLitt, Philosophy of Religion, University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, 1990

BA Hons (1st Class) Religious Studies, University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, 1989

Iain's PhD focussed on the conditions under which one is justified in making the claim to know that God exists. This epistemological focus provided a solid foundation for entering into the field of teaching and learning theory. It was also the culmination of many years of progressing through increasingly complex questions regarding religions and truth claims.

PRINCE 2 Certificate, Managing Projects in Controlled Environments. British Office of Government Commerce, 2006

Certificate in Tertiary Education, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, 2000

Iain was born in the U.K. and brought up in the wonderfully sedate seaside town of Bournemouth. As he moved through his undergraduate and postgraduate studies he also moved steadily north with four years in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and almost 10 years in Edinburgh.

Iain emigrated to New Zealand in 2000 and settled in Auckland where he lived for 11 years. This marked the start of Iain’s formal involvement in eLearning when he took up a position as an instructional designer at The University of Auckland. This position led to his appointment as Director of the Learning Technology Unit, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, The University of Auckland

In January 2012 Iain moved to Hong Kong to take up a position as Director of the eLearning Pedagogical Support Unit, Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, The University of Hong Kong. This is a university wide position that provided the opportunity for career growth and additional responsbilities.

Iain spends his spare time reading, writing and trying to improve his photography skills. To this end he recently took an distance learning course through the New York Institute of Photography. He also enjoys riding his motorbike - currently a Yamaha Dragstar 400 - and watching movies when he’s in the mood to relax..
