Leadership in Learning and Teaching
Life isn't about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself - George Bernard Shaw
I have a Linkedin
site that provides details about my career and the contributions that I have made in my various positions.
This site provides a bit more of a personal perspective on what I've done and, hopefully, speaks to the things I care about
My career has seen me progress from an initial position as an instructional designer at the University of Auckland
through to three Director level postions. In the first two leadership positions - The University of Auckland and The University
of Hong Kong - I was managing eLearning Units. In my current position Director, Learning and Teaching Innovation, Navitas professional
and English Programs - I am leading a unit which broadly speaking has responsibility for curriculum services. This sits well with
me because the word 'eLearning" - which really needs to disappear as technologies just are a part of the educational landscape - is
nowhere in sight!
I think of myself as having grown my career from the "ground up" and in doing so I have gained, maintained
and developed knowledge and skills in: curriculum /course design and development; teaching and learning theory; use
of technologies to enhance teaching and learning; hands on knowledge of how to use technologies to enhance education; educational
research; and a management skill set ranging across people, processes, strategy, operation and change.
